2009 Year In Review

A Message from Stephen Clark - Founder/President Project Ultrasound Inc.

Greetings from Project Ultrasound,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Well the inaugural year of operations for Project Ultrasound has been amazing and I want to thank you for being a part of it.

The vision for this charity came in November 2008 on my car ride to work, while having a conversation with a family member. That's when I found out that ultrasound machines were being used in crisis pregnancy centers and were having an incredible impact. After doing some research I found that the numbers were staggering, 70-90% of abortion minded women who saw an ultrasound chose life, but less than half of centers had machines because of the tremendous cost. I had never been an activist of any kind, I had certainly prayed for the pro-life movement, and for the overturning of our country's acceptance of the gross injustice that is abortion, but now I felt a call to act.

I knew that when people found out that ultrasound machines would save lives, they would want to be a part of helping make this equipment available to centers nationwide, and that is exactly what has happened. We have seen an extremely generous outpouring of financial and volunteer support, I have been approached by professionals in many areas of expertise offering their services, advice, and prayers, it's been an awesome start. I know that God has His hand over what we are doing, and I know 2010 is going to see us making an even more widespread impact on communities across this country for the cause of life.

Thank you all so much for your support and prayers, please keep them coming. Let us all come together and do all that we can to help expecting women see the truth of the life within them, fall in love with the child that God has given them, and avoid the regret and pain of a decision made without the true knowledge of what is at stake.

God bless,
Stephen Clark

NEWS & HIGHLIGHTS from 2009

Mission Accomplished - Heartbeat of Fremont, Ohio
For the past several months Project Ultrasound has been raising funds to help purchase an ultrasound unit for Heartbeat of Fremont Ohio. After hearing about the needs of Heartbeat on our website, an extremely generous ultrasound distributor offered to donate a free ultrasound machine and probes to the Heartbeat pregnancy center. Project U was able to raise $1,600 which will be given to Heartbeat to help them pay for ultrasound training for their medical staff. We want to thank everyone who gave to support Heartbeat of Fremont. They feel so blessed that we were able to support them in reaching out to the women of their community experiencing a crisis pregnancy. There is no doubt that this ultrasound machine will help save lives and help preserve families in Fremont.

Goal Reached - 2 Ultrasound Units Placed in 2009
A private donor recently approached Project Ultrasound about newly developed usb ultrasound technology. This technology incorporates two usb ultrasound probes (one for early stage pregnancies, one for later stage) which can be hooked up to any off the shelf laptop computer. The probes offer high resolution ultrasound images. After having a demonstration of the units done for the medical staff of Riverside Life Center, a crisis pregnancy center in Riverside CA, our private donor offered to fund the full solution for Riverside, which in total costs $7,500. This is a fraction of the cost of the typical ultrasound machine and probes. Through a combination of grant funding and a micro loan arrangement with the Riverside center, two probes and a laptop have been purchased for their center. We feel this new usb technology offers us an incredible opportunity to reach many more centers in a shorter period of time with the ultrasound technology they need to have a tremendous impact on their communities. At the beginning of 2009 our goal was to help place two ultrasound machines in two centers, we feel extremely blessed and encouraged that together with our donors and volunteer community we have reached this goal!

University of Dallas Makes a Difference
The students at the University of Dallas nominated Project Ultrasound as one of the charities they wanted to raise money for during their annual Charity Week held in October 2009. Through various community events and auctions the students were able to raise an incredible amount of money, over $20,000, of which they are donating $4,000 to Project Ultrasound for the purchase of a usb ultrasound probe. We are looking into the possibility of supporting an ultrasound purchase for a crisis pregnancy center in the Dallas area to use these funds in the community in which they were raised.

Matching Gift Tip for Our Donors
Do you work for a large corporation, bank, or well known franchise? If you do, there's a good chance your company has a matching gift program for employees who give to non-profit organizations. Many companies will match their employee's donations to non profits up to 100%. We recently received a donation from a Bank of America employee who made their donation through Bank of America's matching gift program. We confirmed this week that B of A is sending us a check for $1,000 to match their employee's gift! What a blessing. To find out if your company has a matching gift program you can click on the link below and search for your company, or contact your employer's Human Resources department for program details. If you've already donated, don't worry, many matching gift programs apply to donations made to qualified non-profits within the last 12 months.

Volunteer Needs for 2010
Project Ultrasound is always looking for volunteers to help us spread the word about the effectiveness of ultrasound machines in deterring abortion, and help raise funds to purchase machines for centers across the country. In 2010 there are some specific areas in which we need volunteer assistance:

video production/editing - we are looking for a volunteer to help us put together a short video which will effectively communicate our mission to the public and help mobilize support. We will provide the content including music, video clips, testimonies, text to be displayed, we just need someone with the skills to put it together. If video production is your passion and gifting please contact us through at info@projectultrasound.org if you'd like to volunteer.

brochure distribution - Project Ultrasound is producing a beautiful brochure which outlines our mission, and the impact we all can have on communities across this country when we help support the purchase of an ultrasound machine for crisis pregnancy centers. We are looking for people to make these brochures available to their churches and communities in the days leading up to Sanctity of Human Life Sunday on January 24th, 2010. Bulk packs of these brochures will be made available for a very small donation, which will be used to cover the cost of production.

other needs - Do you have a skill in an area that you feel could help us in our mission? We are always looking for individuals who have a unique ability or skill that we can channel in a way that helps support our mission. Everyone has a gift, use yours to help make a tremendous impact. Contact us at info@projectultrasound.org to discuss how you can join our team in the cause for life.
